Summary
Organic pigment dyestuffs can be identified, in many cases, by short heating to 210–300°, in a sublimation chamber, and microscopic observation of the sublimate formed. The chamber consists of an object glass with a shallow groove, covered by a cover slip and resting on an aluminium block. Such dyestuffs as contain sulpho groups, or have formed a laquer with metal compounds, or are linked with tannine, katanol, tamol, or phosphotungstate, do not sublimate, in general.
