Regan-isoenzyme of alkaline phosphatase in sera of cancer patients

Summary

The Regan-Isoenzyme of alkaline phosphatase was determined immunologically measuring the antibody-fixed tumor alkaline phosphatase activity. In 68 blood donors the normal range varied from 0.1145 to 0.6351 (Δ E/20 min at 405 nm,x=0.3748, standard deviation=0.1013). 28.9% of 83 patients with different carcinomas showed a pathologically elevated Regan-Isoenzyme activity in the serum. The percentage of positive results as compared to previous reports is higher due to a more sensitive technique.

Zusammenfassung

Das Regan-Isoenzym der alkalischen Phosphatase wurde immunologisch durch direkte Messung der enzymatischen Aktivität der spezifisch an Antikörper gebundenen alkalischen Phosphatase aus Tumorgewebe gemessen. Der Normalbereich bei 68 Blutspendern lag bei einem Mittelwert von 0,3748 und einer Standardabweichung von 0,1013 zwischen 0,1145 und 0,6351 (Δ E/20 min bei 405 nm). 28,9% von 83 Patienten mit verschiedenen Carcinomen zeigten eine pathologisch erhöhte Aktivität des Regan-Isoenzyms im Serum. Der höhere Prozentsatz positiver Resultate gegenüber bisherigen Untersuchungen ist auf eine empfindlichere Technik zurückzuführen.
