Summary

36 healthy subjects were constantly infused for 6 hours with fructose, sorbitol and xylitol at 0.125 to 0.5 g/kg/h body weight. Serum triglycerides did not change significantly. Xylitol and fructose had no effect on cholesterol concentration. However, sorbitol caused a significant decrease in cholesterol levels.
