Abstract
The structure of the trimethylamylose-chloroform complex has been determined. This complex crystallizes in an orthorhombic unit cell, space group P212121, witha =14.57 Å,b=13.28 Å, andc (fiber repeat)=15.96 Å. The unit cell contains two antiparallel packed TMA-chains with four trimethylglucose units each and eight chloroform molecules placed in the interstitial spaces between the chains. The molecular chain conformation can best be described by an approximate fourfold lefthanded helix.
