Abstract
Comprehensive room temperature data for resistivity and thermoelectric power in Cu and Ag based alloys are shown to be consistent with alloy concepts developed by Friedel and by Stern. This consistency suggests categories of alloy behavior. These categories provide qualitative explanations for unexplained microscopic and Fermi surface properties in some of these alloy systems and thus a more general validity for the categories is proposed.
