Electrochemical reductive dehalogenation of halogeno-cyclopropane and halogenoaromatic compounds

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

A preparative electrochemical method for the exhaustive reductive dehalogenation of gem-dichlorocyclopropanes to cyclopropanes, and of fluoro- and chloroaromatic compounds to aromatic hydrocarbons, was developed. Aqueous DMF with the 1:1 mixture of the salts Licl and MgCl2 was proposed as the electrolyte.

  2. 2.

A method for obtaining a cathode of low deterioration, consisting of an Al support with a surface layer of Li/Mg, was described.
