Summary
The equations governing plane-stress behavior of a piezothermoelastic body, expressed in cylindrical coordinates, are presented. A solution technique based upon displacement and electric potential functions is developed, and application is made to the problem of a circular plate exposed to axisymmetric surface heating Numerical results obtained for the elastic displacement and stresses, and the electric displacements and electric potential are shown to be in good agreement with those found using a previously derived exact three-dimensional solution.
