Corrosion control of the inside surface of surge towers at the Mingechaur hydroelectric station

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Tests on the surge towers of the Mingechaur hydrostation showed that quite considerable corrosion rates can occur on these structures.

  2. 2.

    To prevent corrosion of these structures it is recommended to use cathodic protection with groups of anodes echeloned over the height.
