Recent work in magnetotelluric soundings of the lower crust and uppermost mantle

Abstract

The technique of magnetotelluric sounding has been used for 25 years and a wealth of information has been obtained from regional studies. A table of results and an accompanying extensive bibliography was presented to the Murnau Workshop and this review discusses some aspects derived from the accumulated literature. In particular, the deep conducting layer (CCU) is considered.
