Calculation of the parameters of drilling and blasting operations to obtain permissible overbreaks and underbreaks at foundations

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The mechanism of formation of overbreaks and underbreaks in the case of blasting preparation of rock foundations of structures was analyzed and a calculation scheme for determining the maximum values of overbreaks and underbreaks was proposed.

  2. 2.

    Data are given on the actual values of overbreaks and underbreaks at rock foundations of a number of large hydroelectric stations, their statistical analysis was performed, and the closeness of the calculated and actual maximum values of overbreaks and underbreaks and also of the range of variations of the unevenness of foundations was shown.

  3. 3.

    A method was proposed for calculating the parameters of drilling and blasting operations at the lower contour of pits of important structures to obtain the given value of over-breaks and underbreaks of rock at the foundation of structures.
