Conclusions

  1. 1.

In hydraulic calculations of spillway structures in a one-dimensional interpretation of the problem, the differential equation of nonuniform flow with variable parameters over the length or its particular cases can be taken as the base.

  2. 2.

The boundary conditions of the differential equation of nonuniform flow are determined either by the method of singular points with a physical analysis of the flow or on the basis of the hydraulic conditions before and after the stretch being considered.

  3. 3.

An experimental laboratory check on a model at the Hydraulics Laboratory of the Armenian Scientific-Research Institute of Water Problems and Hydraulic Engineering showed a high accuracy of calculating spillway structures by the indicated method. It makes it possible to do away with laborious and approximate methods, use of tables and nomograms, and making gross assumptions.

  4. 4.

The economic effect as a consequence of reducing the dimensions of the structure (compared with the design realized by the conventional methods) was 20,200 rubles.
