The transition time for the ground state hyperfine splitting of209Bi82+

Abstract

The lifetime of the excited hyperfine state of the ground state level of209Bi82+ is calculated. The result of τ(Bi82+)=400.09 μs still exhibits a discrepancy to the experimental value τex=351(16) μs of about 14%.
