The influence of the motion of a radiating atom on the line-width in the Doppler limit

Abstract

The correlation of the Doppler and pressure effects upon an atomic spectral line-width in the range of low pressures is investigated. The test calculations for the helium emission line (3,889 å) have been performed too. The obtained line profiles show deviations from the Voigt formula.
