Abstract
The impact of a high school riot on the ecology of the school is studied from the perspective of the vice-principal. Administrative options and responses were shaped by the organizational history of the school and by relationships among various groups both outside and inside the school: faculty, students, superintendent, Board of Education, black community, and white community. Some implications for the Community Mental Health Consultant are discussed.
