Effect of systematic errors in phototriangulation based on ground photographs

  • Published:
Hydrotechnical Construction Aims and scope

Conclusion

The systematic errors examined above do not have a noticeable effect on the accuracy of constructing a free photogrammetric network. The accumulation of errors in the space coordinates of the points occurs mainly (except the error in the photo base) sinusoidally with or without a change of signs.

As a result of field operation of the phototheodolite sets certain constants established by the manufacturer as permissible can differ considerably from the values assumed in the work. Therefore the cameras should be adjusted and checked periodically before starting field works, which is due to the high requirements imposed on the accuracy of determining elements of the orientation of the photos in analytical methods of processing survey data.
