Urgent problems of geological substantiation of geomechanical calculations

Hydrotechnical Construction Aims and scope

Conclusion

An examination of current problems of geomechanical interpretation of geological data shows their exceptional complexity and poor development. In this case the magnitude of inaccuracy of the geomechanical parameters and calculations usually remains vague. An immediate elaboration of these methodological problems is necessary, which substantially depends on an understanding of the structure of the mass as well as on the process of formation of its geomechanical properties, and should be carried out primarily at the level of a geological study of the rock foundation with the maximum use of engineering geophysics and in close contact with rock mechanics.
