Determination of the fuel effect of a pumped-storage station

Hydrotechnical Construction Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The fuel effect of pumped-storage stations in real power systems varies in wide limits depending on the total installed capacity of the stations, amounting for the UPS NW to 12–13 rubles/kW·yr for the “first” kilowatts of capacity of the PSS and to 5–8 rubles/kW· yr when their share in the power system is of the order of 6–7%.

  2. 2.

The fuel effect of PSS also varies in wide limits depending on the conditions of development of the power system. The most favorable conditions for PSS occurs when the share of nuclear stations in the system is more than 30%.

  3. 3.

The maximum economically permissible specific capital investments in PSS vary depending on the installed capacity of the PSS and on the conditions of development of the power system. The proportion in the cost of an installed 1 kW of a pumped-storage station and gas-turbine station at which they are equally economic power stations is within 1.7–2.5.
