Hydrotechnical Construction Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The methods for excavation, preparation, and placement of clay-skeleton soils in the dam as well as the quality control methods made it possible to use for these purposes soils of highly heterogeneous geotechnical characteristics from quarries located in the immediate vicinity of the dam site, and to ensure the dam core quality required in the project.

  2. 2.

The performed test work for hydraulic-fill placement of pebbly-gravelly and sandy-gravelly soils in the dumps, the tests carried out to obtain fine rock mass, and the operative quality control system made it possible to develop reliable methods for preparation of all the filter materials for the transition zones of the dam, eliminating the need for construction of a special plant for their preparation.
