Abstract
Tensor polarizabilities of levels of the 6snd1D2 Rydberg series between n=15 and n=22 were measured by quantum beat spectroscopy. The tensor polarizabilities depend on the sixth power of the effective principal quantum number, which can be explained by a simple theoretical consideration.
