A note on spin-flip electric dipole transitions

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Physik A Atoms and Nuclei

Abstract

A simplified derivation is given of the spin-flip electric dipole transition matrix element to order (α 3), which stresses general principles and the atomic charge operator. Relativistic corrections of order (v/c)2 are necessary. The previous result of Drake for helium-like ions is verified.
