Level-crossing-spectroscopy with additional optical pumping in the ground state

Abstract

The level crossing-technique with additional optical pumping in the ground state is demonstrated in the case of the hyperfinestructure of the 6p 1 P 1 state of the two odd isotopes of Yb using a natural occuring isotopic mixture. The influences of the pumping process and of a buffer gas on the lc signal structure are discussed in terms of a modified Breit formula.
