Summary
A method is described for separating aluminium from copper alloys based on the negative selection with disubstituted dithiocarbamates. All the elements occurring in the usual copper alloys and interfering with the oxine titration, can be either extracted or filtered off. This method was tested on copper alloys with 1–10% Al, 50–82% Cu, 20–40% Zn, 0.8–1% Sn, 0.8–3% Fe, ca. 1.5% Ni, 2–6.7% Mn, 0.21–0.7% Pb and 0.036–0.48% Si. It makes possible considerable savings in time and analysis costs.
