Summary
The colored water-soluble salts of p-dimethylaminobenzaldazine or its quinoidal cations are adsorbed practically irreversibly by filter paper. The adsorption is accompanied by a deepening in color in daylight and a red- to salmon fluorescence in ultraviolet light. These effects make possible a spot test for hydrazine. The test is specific and succeeds even at a dilution of 1:50 000 000.
