Summary
A spot reaction is given for cobalt, which is based on the formation of a peroxy compound. Because of the green color of this cobalt complex, which is procuced by adding hydrogen peroxide to a cobalt solution in the presence of sodium hydrogen carbonate, it is possible to detect 5 to 10γ cobalt in one drop of the test solution. The reaction is specific for cobalt. The green color does not change on prolonged standing.
