Zusammenfassung
Probierwaagen für Edelmetalle werden in den Vereinigten Staaten für Belastungen von 2 oder 5 g erzeugt. Die Probierwaage vonThompson wird eingehend beschrieben. Sie benutzt zwei Reiter von je 0,5 mg Gewicht. Eine sorgfältige Prüfung der Reitereinrichtung zeigte, daß die Gewichtsanzeige durch die Reiter höchstens einen Fehler von 1γ verursacht. Die Ruhelage des Zeigers wurde nach einer Wartezeit von 3 Minuten abgelesen und die Ruhelagen konnten, falls die Temperatur des Waagezimmers ziemlich hoch war, immer wieder genau reproduziert werden.

Les balances d'essayeurs pour les métaux rares sont fabriquées aux USA pour des charges de 2 ou 5 g. La balance d'essai deThompson est décrite en détail. Elle utilise deux cavaliers pesant chacun 0,5 mg. Un examen soigne de l'installation des cavaliers a montré que l'indication de poids par leur intermédiaire, produit au maximum, une erreur de 1γ. La position de repos de l'aiguille était lue après une durée de 3 minutes et dans le cas où la température ambiante était assez élevée, le zéro se montrait reproductible avec une bonne précision.
