Third ventriculostomy (Stookey and Scarff operation) in the treatment of benign aqueductal stenosis

Summary

After a review of the literature on the treatment of benign stricture of the aqueduct, the results obtained in 28 personal cases with theStookey andScarff's operation are reported, and the opinion is put forward that it is the best operative procedure for this condition.

Nach einem Überblick über das Schrifttum bezüglich der Behandlung der gutartigen Aquaeductstenosen werden die eigenen Ergebnisse bei 28 Fällen, die mit der Operation nachStookey undScarff erzielt wurden, dargestellt. Es wird die Ansicht vertreten, daß diese hierbei das beste operative Verfahren ist.

Après révision de la littérature publiée sur le traitement du retrécissement de l'aqueduc, les résultats obtenus dans 28 cas personnels par l'opération deStookey etScarff sont rapportés et l'opinion est avancée que c'est là la meilleure opération pour cette affection.

Después de una revisión de la literatura sobre el tratamiento de las estenosis benignas del acueducto los autores comunican los resultados obtenidos con la operación deStookey yScarff en 28 casos personales. En su opinión ésta intervención es el mejor tratamiento quírúrgico para ésta enfermedad.
