Dependence of theK hα /K αα-branching ratio on projectile velocity and nuclear charge

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Physik A Atoms and Nuclei

Abstract

The branching ratio (BR) between hypersatellite- and two-electron-one-photon transition is investigated with S- and Cl-ion impact on Cl-solid- and Ar-gaseous-target. A strong deviation from the scaling of theBR with the nuclear charge predicted for a constant shell configuration is obtained by comparing theBR of projectile- and target-atoms. This deviation can be explained by a different 2s-ionization of heavy and light collision partner.
