Summary
Important technical improvements of the operation microscope and devices for documentation, coupled with the development of a new electrohydraulic ceiling mount which incorporates two operating lamps, creates a multi-purpose operation theatre which satisfies the demands of microsurgery in the field of neurosurgery. The equipment, which is still being tested, is suitable for all operations on the skull and brain, spinal column and spinal cord and peripheral nerves, with the patient lying in any desired position. With the aid of modern devices for documentation, maximum facilities are available for recording the lesions encountered and the techniques employed.
