Summary
On the basis of 101 patients operated for acoustic neurinoma, the advantages of a lateral position of the patient on the operating table over a prone position or a sitting position have been emphasized. By reason of the better visualization of the operation area, total removal of the tumour could be effected in the majority of the patients operated on in the lateral position.
