Intradural spinal lipomas

Review of the literature (99 cases) and report of an additional case

Summary

One hundred intradural spinal lipomas from the literature, including one of our own, are reviewed. Data about their sex and age incidence, location, pathology, aetiologic aspects, clinical course and clinical picture are reported. The roentgenographic and cerebrospinal fluid findings, the surgical treatment and the immediate and late operative results are discussed.

Zusammenfassung

Bericht über 100 intradurale spinale Lipome anhand des Schrifttums und unter Einschluß eines eigenen Falles. Es werden die Daten über die Altersund Geschlechtsverteilung, Lokalisation, Pathologie, ätiologische Gesichtspunkte, klinischen Verlauf und klinisches Bild gegeben. Die Röntgenbefunde und die Liquorbefunde, die chirurgische Behandlung sowie die unmittelbaren und operativen Spätergebnisse werden besprochen.

Résumé

Une centaine de cas de lipomes spinaux intra-duraux dont un des nôtres, ont été observés dans la Littérature.

Des données sont rapportées, concernant l'âge, et le sexe, la localisation, la pathologie et les aspects étiologiques, l'évolution clinique et l'image clinique. La discussion porte sur les découvertes roentgenographiques, sur le liquide céphalo-rachidien, le traitement chirurgical et les résultats opératoires tardifs.

Riassunto

Si è effettuata una rassegna di complessivi cento casi di lipomi spinali sottodurali della letteratura, compreso un caso di personale osservazione. Sono riportati i dati riguardanti l'incidenza relativa al sesso, all'età, nonchè la sede anatomica di questi tumori, gli aspetti anatomopatologici, i problemi etiologici, il decorso ed il quadro clinico. Sono discussi i reperti radiografici e liquorali, il trattamento chirurgico ed i risultati immediati ed a distanza.

Resumen

Se han revisado un centenar de casos con lipomas intradurales de la literatura y de los cuales uno correspondra a un caso personal.

Se recogen los datos concernientes a edad, sexo, localization, patología y aspeetos etiológicos, evolución cllnica y cuadro clínico. El estudio se extiende también sobre los hallazgos radiológicos, del líquido cefalo-raquídeo y sobre el tratamiento quirúrgico y sus resultados operatorios tardíos.
