Zusammenfassung
Entsprechend den Beobachtungen vonW. Dandy undA.
Summary
According to the observations ofDandy andWalker, there is an abnormality of cerebellar development associated with aplasia of the lower cerebellar folia, with cyst formation, and with partial or complete blockade between the intra—and the extra—cerebral cerebrospinal fluid. This is synonymously referred to as the Dandy-Walker Syndrome and as atresia or agenesis of the foramen of Magendie.
The Dandy-Walker Syndrome is considered to be a clinically and pathologico-anatomically defined disease entity in the sense of a primary dysraphic disturbance of the ontogenetic phase, and the idea of a primary atresia of the foramen of Magendie as a causative factor in the abnormality is rejected. Thus, the syndrome is differentiated from other developmental defects of the Arnold-Chiari and syringomyelic complex.
