Abstract
Extinction spectra for the colloidal systems NaCl(Na) and NaCl(Au) have been calculated according to Mie's theory on an IBM 360-65 computer. The particle diameters and wavelengths considered were in the range of 20–300 and 400–2000 nm respectively. In the calculations the electric and magnetic multipole excitations up to the third order were taken into account. The theoretical results were compared with spectra of decorated crystals and a good agreement was found.
