Conclusions

The results obtained indicate that it is possible to use nondestructive testing of the thermal damage to dense refractory ceramics by employing the ultrasonic spectral method. In this case it is possible to fix the intensity of the thermal-shock loadings for which microdestruction of the specimen commences, and which is not always registered during mechanical testing. These data are interesting for assessing the thermal damage of ceramics, especially if they are being operated in conditions of repeated and variable mechanical or thermal loading.
