Conclusions

It has been established that the method of production of chamotte is very important for the production of parts with specified properties from it.

The firing and cooling conditions of the parts and also the gaseous media during forming of the refractories have a significant influence on the quality, thermal stability, and life of the refractory materials in service.

Thermal cycling of refractories in different gaseous media is the basic reason for their failure as the result of a cyclic change in structure, physicomechanical properties, and phase composition of the parts.

For equipment operating under thermal cycling conditions in different gaseous media protection of the linings by application to them of coatings, guniting, or the introduction of other measures is recommended.
