The use of the eikonal approximation in the optical-model calculation

Abstract

Numerical calculations show that the eikonal approximation reproduces well the optical-model phase shifts for alpha-particle scattering by medium nuclei. The results are not as good for the differential cross-sections. However, they are considerably improved by including the Coulomb effects.
