Abstract
TheT=0 spectrum of C12 is calculated by diagonalising a realistic 12-nucleon Hamiltonian in a space of cluster wave functions with spatial symmetry Young diagram [444]. The results give a good correspondence with the low-lying experimental levels. A good qualitative description of these levels is given by a simple model of three bosons which move translationally invariant in a harmonic oscillator; this model serves as a starting point for the calculation.
