Abstract
The nuclear resonance fluorescence method was applied to study the profiles of γ emission lines. Under certain conditions these profiles contain information about the slowing down of recoiling atoms in solids. The 773 keV line emitted by sources of187W,187WC and187WO3 was investigated. The results for this line and available data for152Eu,152EuO and131I(Te) sources are discussed using a simple description for the slowing down based on the Debye model.
