Luminescent response for channeling in anthracene transmitted by α-particles

Abstract

Luminescent response of anthracene to channeled α-particles transmitted parallel to the [001]-axis is investigated. A simple theoretical model is presented and comparisons made with experiment. For a given specific energy lossdE/dx the luminescent response to channeled α-particles is the same as to randomly incident particles. This result is concluded from the good agreement of theoretical calculations and experimental measurements within the accuracy of about ± 3%.

The relationship between specific luminescencedS/dx of anthracene and specific energy lossdE/dx is used for the calculations. It is obtained by fitting experimental values to the theoretical expression.
