Abstract
The theory of nuclear pairing correlations, recently developed byMigdal, introduces only one constant, which should be nearly the same for all nuclei. This Green's function method is compared with the well known BCS-theory. The constant is fitted and the problem has been solved by numerical methods. We found that the constant varies likeA −1/2. The individual magnitude of the pairing energy depends strongly on the single particle level density which determines the value of the renormalized coupling constant of the pairinteraction. This enables us to reproduce the deviations of the pairing energy from the curveδ n =11,2A −1/2. The results are independent from the choice of the cut-off level.
