Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

The melt-cast MShL refractories of a magnesial spinel composition are characterized by a fine-grain, isometric structure with adequately developed direct contact between the high-refractory phases.

The excellence of the technical properties of these refractories is the result of the strength of accretion of the crystals and the large number of direct contacts between them.

At similar cooling rates of the crystallized MShL refractories, the graininess of the structures and their breakup by cavities into fine fragments (right down to individual grains) increase with an increase in the concentration of Cr2O3 and MgO.
