Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

During the melting, firing, and service of magnesia refractories crystallization occurs in the sublimation products in the form of thin-walled tubes, fine films, dendrites, needles and threads of periclase, periclase-forsterite, and spinel compositions. The presence of carbon in these newly formed compounds indicates development mainly in a reducing atmosphere.
