Conclusions
The necessary quantity of combustion metal in exothermal starting heating of oxides before induction melting may be determined by calculation.
The understanding of the specific weight of metal burned for melting a unit of volume of its oxide is introduced. The calculated values of the specific weight of a number of metals are given.
It is shown that exothermal starting heating of alkaline-earth metal oxides in combustion of these metals is impossible. Some practical recommendations on providing starting heating by combustion of the metal are given.
