Summary
First investigations of a slimy material fromP. stutzeri show that it represents a polysaccharide, composed of glucose and mannose in nearly equal amounts and of rhamnose and another unknown sugar in lesser quantities. Acid hydrolysis of the polysaccharide additionally yields an oligomeric, very acid stable compound which could not as yet be identified.
