Abstract
Measurements of the elastic small-angle scattering cross sections of silver for 60 keV electrons having been performed with silver-atom beams are communicated. The results agree with the theoretical values ofIbers andVainshtein. Comparison of the experimental results with the earlier measurements of the cross sections made with silver films shows no agreement at all. So the conjecture of several authors that the great differences between the theoretical small-angle scattering cross sections and those measured in foils are due to differences of the cross sections between isolated and condensed atoms could be verified.
