Linear phenomenological fluctuations in Onsager systems

Abstract

To illustrate the Onsager separation of time-dependent correlation functions four examples of various harmonic chain problems are treated exactly. Then the separation hypothesis is used to construct the phenomenological part of the realizations of macroobservables, the corresponding Langevin force, and their hydrodynamical correlation function.
