Abstract

The chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides, dieldrin and lindane, were used at the normal and 20-fold rate. The plants were grown in pots containing clay soil. The results showed that whereas low and high concentrations of dieldrin as well as low concentration of lindane had no effect on the morphological characters of the shoot and root systems, high concentration of lindane had a harmful effect. Nodulation was slightly affected by low and high concentrations of dieldrin as well as low concentration of lindane. High concentration of lindane had a deleterious effect on nodulation.
