Green's function formalism and the long polymethine chain approximation

Abstract

Quantum-mechanical Green's functions have been applied to derive general formulas for the shifts in quasicontinuum levels and the changes in the corresponding wave functions in a system containing a locally connected moiety. The approach extends the long-chain approximation in polymethine dye theory.
