Abstract
The CsCl-type compounds CeAg x In1−x have a martensitic phase transformation with properties similar to that in LaAg x In1−x , but with higher transition temperature. For other trivalent lanthanides, the temperature for the transition into the tetragonal low temperature phase decreases with increasing atomic number. In the Jahn-Teller like model for the phase transformation, this can be related to the increasing distance of the 5d-levels from the Fermi energy.
