Abstract
Two aspects of the relativistic Hamiltonian of the electron are investigated in the nonrelativistic limit: 1) The Hamiltonian is correctly expanded in powers ofv/c instead of 1/m. 2) By comparing with the spin zero case it is decided which terms are a consequence of the spin (or magnetic moment). The results are applied to the fine-structure levels of hydrogen.
