Automatic airtight sealing of a product in a container during hydrostatic compaction

Abstract

A hydrostat based on the “dry bag” principle is proposed for hydrostatic compaction of powder metallurgy products. The hydrostat design is a combination of a direct action device with the press mold mounted in the container channel, where a “bare” briquette is loaded into the mold. The device is made airtight “automatically” as soon as the face end of the moving plunger touches the mold flanging. The hydrostat can eliminate manual labor and improve efficiency.
